How have you addressed morale? The proper answer to that would be NOT AT ALL! People still leaving these jobs because they are getting better offers elsewhere...give yourself a pat on the back councillors!
These are very tough times indeed. Keeping people in work and protecting services has to be the right thing to do. We can't conjure up money we don't have either as a country or a council. Whoever is in this job is faced with difficult choices. There is an alternative as clearly presented by the Labour opposition - 1,500 job loses. This is the route Manchster and Liverpool have gone down. We are determined not to let that happen here.
I didn't say there weren't tough choices to make, obviously there are. I suggested you dodged the question on how you addressed morale which you have done again as your comment actually wasn't very relevant to what I had said! I do worry that people like you are making such big decisions! Perhaps some training is needed on paying attention to detail?
I won't pretend to have all the answers. However I think key things that will help are protecting jobs, ensuring council accomodation is fit for purpose and ensuring that funding goes to the front line. Clearly the most important thing is to the end the industrial action and focus on delivering good services for the taxpaying public.
